The Genii Awards, but the Alliance Of Women In Media Southern California Chapter. Most recently I was invited by my publicist Nadine Christine, to attend the Genii Awards, and it was AMAZING. I met Cloris Leachman, Felicity Huffman, Nancy O’Dell, Allison Sweeny and so many powerful women in media. I had a WONDERFUL time and learned so much.
I am a witch. Please picture me much more like Glinda or Wendy than the scary dark hags of horror films and late night stories at slumber parties. Witches do not turn people into frogs nor do we worship the devil. Witchcraft is a life-affirming, earth and nature-oriented belief system that sees all of life as sacred. It honors the natural world as the embodiment of divinity. It is a peaceful, harmonious and balanced way of living which promotes oneness with all that exists.
I believe in magic. Not the “rabbit out of the hat kind” of magic – though I love that too – but magic that can make something really appear from nowhere. Magic can help you find a better job, find your lost keys or find a new boyfriend. Magic can bring about healing, change your life for the better, and create balance.
I have been practicing natural Magick my entire life. (Add the k on the end of magic to differentiate it from the card trick kind!) My specialty is in adjusting energy and flow – in people, spaces, situations, most anything. I work organically by creating spells and rituals that arrange natural elements to the rhythms and cycles of the universe.
A spell or ritual is a set of actions, elements and prayers that you do and say in order to ask for divine help with some particular aspect of your life. I work heavily with mother earth’s natural elements, using oils, herbs, sounds and stones in my workings.
Spells and Rituals can be designed to attempt to either harm or help others. The same processes are used for both. I highly recommend working only in the light and practicing “good or white” Magick and strongly believe in harming none. Magick has a three-fold law: “All good that a person does to another returns three-fold in this life; harm is also returned three-fold.” (Meaning whatever you send out, comes back to you three times over.) There is also a Wiccan Rede: “An it harm none, do what thou wilt.” (Meaning do whatever you wish as long as it harms no one.)
Before performing a ritual or spell, you need to carefully think through all the possible repercussions to make certain that it does not have a manipulative component. I believe that spells and rituals alter the course of the universe and are not to be entered into lightly without thoroughly considering all of its possible effects.
I am grateful to USM magazine for giving me this opportunity to share my magic. I am going to use this column to give you some simple tools, information, rituals and spells for self empowerment and a better life. I believe that we ALL have the power and the MAGICK to create the life and the world we want. So get ready to wave your wand and click your ruby red slippers three times… because Magick is afoot! See ya next time. Until then, start to find your own magic within. With love, blessings and big, big hugs from Hollywood! ;o) xox Patti
This issue I am going to give you my favorite Love Spell. In my years of doing spells and rituals, love is always the most requested. This spell is intended to attract the perfect mate and partner. You will need two candles. One white, and one in your favorite color, some incense, paper and a piece of red material to make a small pouch.
To begin, ground and center yourself, visualize an energy circle around you. Meditate on all the preconceived ideas you have about the perfect partner. VERY IMPORTANT: Maybe you have a particular candidate in mind for romance. Release the thought of that person (it would be unethical to work magick to make a certain person love you; this would violate their free will, and put you in jeopardy of repercussion). Release all notions of what your perfect lover will look like. These are externals, and if you cling to them then you run the risk of overlooking your ideal mate simply because your conscious mind was focused on superficiality.
When your mind is clear and open, hold the candle of your favorite color: this represents you. Meditate, then speak aloud all the qualities and energies you are willing to bring to an intimate relationship. Replace that candle, and pick up the white one. This represents your ideal partner. Speak aloud the essential qualities you desire in a mate, and ask Aphrodite to bring you together in this lifetime. What type of partner do you want to share your days with? What type of relationship do you wish to have? Don’t focus on who you want, rather what you want. (Honesty, commitment, respect, love). On a piece of paper write down all the qualities you want in a potential lover. Light some incense. Burn the paper containing your lover’s qualities along with the incense, until all turns to ashes. Put the ashes in a red silk pouch, to be worn or carried with you. (Touch or kiss the pouch frequently throughout the day, remembering what you want.)
Place the two candles at opposite ends of the altar. Each day thereafter, meditate on the perfect loving relationship for a few minutes, and move the two candles an inch close together. If you started on the new moon, then by full moon the candles should be touching. If possible, I suggest you DO start on the new moon.
The moment you wake up, place light the candles. Silently repeat the following affirmation several times: “May I find the love I seek. May the love I seek find me.” In a notebook, begin to write whatever thoughts come to you. Do not censor yourself. Keep writing until you have to stop and think of something to write. Do this every day for nine days. On the tenth day, burn all of the pages you have written. Gather up the ashes. At dusk, cast the ashes which contain the secret desires of your soul to the universe. Trust that the universe will respond to your call. Now just believe and know that it is so. Every day, start to find your own magic within. ‘Til next time… with love, blessings and big, big hugs from Hollywood! ;o) xox Patti
This issue I am going to give you some ritual ideas for a House Blessing or Clearing. House blessings are spiritual rituals intended to clear negative energies from a space, bring harmony and light and protect the inhabitants.
If you are noticing negatives energies or feelings in your home: perhaps unexplained tiredness, arguing, a restless, listless or “down” feeling – it is probably time to do a house blessing! Often times, dark or negative energies or spirits gather like dust bunnies – and can heavily affect the people living within.
House Blessings are highly recommended for moving into a new home or apartment, after a divorce, death or break up or any life or situation changing moments. And sometimes you just need to get the “stale” out and start off on a clean slate by removing old or negative energy out of the home – kind of like a “Spring Cleaning” – in ANY season!
If you’re moving into a new home and wish to bring in as much harmony as possible, it is smart to perform some type of cleansing and blessing on your new residence. Locations can hold the energy of previous owners or events that have happened there, and it is unlikely that it is all positive and loving. Don’t take chances. While moving time is often stressful and busy, try to set one day aside to spiritually prepare your new home.
A house cleansing should be a celebration, so if you want, you can invite your friends and family and ask them to participate in blessing your home.
Use the following as a guideline. Feel free to adjust or make your own as spirit leads you.
Create sacred space in your own manner / Invite deity / angels / Call the corners, etc.
Be aware of the basic elements:
East / Air Intelligence, organization
South / Fire Warmth, Passion, Change
West / Water Love, contentment, unity, purification
North / Earth Stability, strength, nurturing
Then – Go room to room through house clearing bad, negative, dark, stale, thick energy. Using a combination of any or all of the following:
Sage to Purify
Broom to sweep out
Bell to ring out
Water to Cleanse
Salt to purify
Knife to cut through bad energy
Now, replenish what the space with good, loving, positive, light, energy. Again, going room to room – and while in each room – claim and state the elements you want in that room. ie – for examples – (but bring your OWN intentions that you want in each room) sample: sustenance, nutrition, togetherness in the kitchen. Love, sleep, rest, sex in the bedroom. Cleanliness, elimination, beauty in the bedroom. Etc., etc.
Go room to room with:
Incense to sweeten – Air – purify
Candle – fire – light
Water/ Crystal – water – emotional flow
Branch – earth – grounding
Chime – to ring in good
Thank the elements, deities, guides, angels, friends and family members that assisted you
Close the circle. Enjoy your new home!
‘Til next time… with love, blessings and big, big hugs from Hollywood! ;o) xox Patti
